Project Manager, Custom Systems

This exciting role will provide an opportunity to solve problems across several industries, including aerospace & defense, cosmetics & sun protection, lighting, automotive & transportation, image sensors, medical & life science, consumer electronics, telecom, and industrial photonics.
This person will oversee the planning, design, and development of our custom product portfolio. In this role, you will manage project workflow management within engineering including system design, review and release to manufacturing, and product performance and validation testing for unique optical systems. Projects typically involve a combination of optical, mechanical, electrical, and thermal design.
The Project Manager will be expected to coordinate the project through the development life cycle and work with other Engineering and Project Managers to define priorities, assign tasks, and work with production personnel to meet the performance specifications of the project deliverable while having direct responsibility for the project estimations. Beyond project management, you will also be the lead personnel refining processes, effective implementation and coordination with the planning and manufacturing team.
To succeed, the candidate must be a hands-on person and act as a driver to motivate and steer the team to achieve the project goals of the group while satisfying customer requirements. You should be organized, self-motivated, and eager to learn about and develop new technology. The candidate will need to manage multiple projects/tasks and work within a cross-functional team environment to provide creative and innovative solutions to solve challenging problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all project activities and workflows including scheduling/resourcing, planning, design reviews, interdepartmental liaising, project reporting, and risk management.
- Assist in defining project scope with relevant stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility.
- Responsible for tracking all engineering efforts with focus during the design phase.
- Facilitate design reviews and other forms of communication, to ensure intra and inter-departmental collaboration.
- Interface with engineering leadership, engineers, vendors, sales/customers, and internal production teams to ensure design, build, and test requirements and execution plans are understood and achieved.
- End-to-End project oversight to ensure on-schedule and on-budget execution.
- When appropriate, interface with sales/customers during project execution.

- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, management, or equivalent
- 2+ years of technical project management experience within manufacturing sector

Senior Electrical Engineer
Join a world-class team in solving our customers’ toughest challenges as our Senior Electrical Engineer. This exciting role will provide an opportunity to solve problems across several industries, including aerospace & defense, cosmetics & sun protection, lighting, automotive & transportation, image sensors, medical & life science, consumer electronics, telecom, and industrial photonics.
The Senior Electrical Engineer can be located from either the North Sutton NH or Peabody MA office, with semi-regular travel to the other location as needed, especially during the initial training period.
Key Responsibilities:
As a collaborative Senior Electrical Engineer, you will:
- Work with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals in the development of Labsphere and ILT’s next-generation electrical architectures for light measurement, technical lighting systems, and tunable reference calibration systems
- Utilize electrical engineering expertise in a multidisciplinary team to design, build, and test new solutions to meet customer requirements and specifications
- Work closely with and contribute to firmware design in embedded architectures
- Lead and develop new sensor/spectrometer applications within existing hardware
- Investigate, propose, and build consensus for future technology solutions and design architectures
- Lead the effort to improve configuration management from prototype to production

Requirements:
Our ideal candidate brings a wealth of experience and should possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- 8+ years of work experience in driving technical solutions in manufacturing and industrial environments
- Hands-on experience developing tightly integrated electrical hardware/firmware systems from concept through volume production
- Expert experience of electronics design in both analog and digital domains, including designing with microcontrollers, layout, simulation, test, and verification
- Experience and drive to plan and implement design process improvements
- Proficient with hardware debugging tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
- Electrical circuit design (low voltage DC such as current regulators, op-amp circuits, communication busses, etc. Some AC power systems)

Spray Coating Technician
Join a world-class team in providing our customers with optical systems and components as our Spray Coating Technician. This exciting role will provide an opportunity to manufacture products for customers in several industries, including aerospace & defense, cosmetics & sun protection, lighting, automotive & transportation, image sensors, medical & life science, consumer electronics, telecom, and industrial photonics.
The Spray Coating Technician is responsible for working within a team to provide quality products that are in compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare/mask surfaces for sandblasting and coating per written procedures
- Spray optical coatings on products
- Remove masking and coating as per drawings or instructions
- Follow work schedule per the Coating Lead’s instructions
- Inspect work while performing these processes to ensure quality
- Operate sandblaster and random orbital sanders per instructions provided
- Accurately report time worked and completed via paperless system
- Precisely measure liquids and solids to mix coating per written procedures.
- Utilize 5-gallon pressure fed, as well as gravity fed LVMP spray gun to complete jobs.
- This position requires you to handle toxic chemicals and hazardous waste (paint waste). Use of proper PPE is required, including wearing a respirator while spraying.
- Company paid travel may be required occasionally to perform offsite work.

Senior Product Manager

Labsphere is looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our team. The Product Manager is responsible for the business ownership of one of Labsphere photonics/light measurement/remote sensing product lines. This includes end-to-end product planning and execution across the entire business lifecycle. This role involves gathering and prioritizing product requirements, defining product vision, and collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and operations). The product manager will create materials and collateral needed to communicate the capabilities of product, including competitive positioning, brochures, presentations, and white papers. The Product Manager will ensure product goals align with the company’s overall strategy and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Strategy: Develop and execute product strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Product Management: Manage the entire product lifecycle from concept through launch, including defining product vision, performance requirements, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and overseeing product development. Manage the product line lifecycle from introduction to phase out including pricing, and cost analysis.
- Market Analysis: Identify market trends and business opportunities to position the product competitively. Conduct regular user, sales, customer, and distributor interviews (VOC) to gather insights into product performance and areas for improvement. Cultivate a deep understanding of customer needs, pain points, and “jobs to be done” to guide product strategy and decisions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with engineering, sales, and marketing teams to gather product requirements and execute product plans.
- Metrics & Reporting: Define, analyze, and report product metrics to measure success and inform strategy.
- Product Promotion: Attend and present product performance and capabilities at relevant trade shows, seminars, and conferences. Support Sales with presentations, customer visits and on-line interactions as needed to drive revenue of product lines.
- Competitive Analysis: Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify market trends and opportunities for innovation.
- Business Optimization: Manage the product to optimize revenue, profit,and inventory working closely with Sales and Operations teams.
- Go To Market: Develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies and work with marketing and sales teams to execute successful product launches.

- Strong verbal, written, communication and presentation abilities; highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Preferred: Knowledge of the remote sensing market. Specifically, earth observation, multi- and hyperspectral imaging, drone, aerial, and space imaging systems and markets.
- Preferred: Photonics industry knowledge with an understanding of optical systems, LEDs, lasers, electro-optics, radiometry, and photometry.

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be a key leadership team member responsible for defining and executing the company’s commercial strategy. This role will oversee all commercial activities, including sales, marketing, business development, and customer service. The CCO will work closely with other senior leaders to drive revenue growth, enhance market positioning, and ensure global alignment with the Labsphere’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the company’s commercial strategy to achieve revenue and growth targets. Ensure alignment with overall business goals and objectives.

Optical Systems Engineer

This position involves communication regarding technical capabilities and limitations, prioritization of requirements, and schedule demands for custom light-metrology solutions. This position is a key component in a very dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging engineering environment.
The ideal candidate can speak technically at a range of levels from novice to expert, and most importantly, the ability to listen. Being able to extract the right information with the right questions to fully understand the customer’s needs is essential.
Beyond customer interaction, the Optical Systems Engineer will need to relay those requirements to the internal design team and provide a clear description of the system to be built with a focus on the optical design and overall system performance. Specific attention is to be made to creating a holistic system that performs according to the customer use case.
Key Responsibilities:
- Duties will include optical system design, laboratory measurements, and customer training/installations of light metrology systems.
- The applications will span the gamut of light measurement applications (LEDs, lasers, OLEDs, plasma sources), remote sensing uniform source systems (UV/VIS/NIR), material reflectance, integrating sphere design, spectrometer and sensor analysis, and imaging device analysis.
- Ideal candidate will have broad experience with light metrology and engineering applications in as many of the following areas as possible: Optical design and simulation, Thermal Analysis, LEDs, OLEDs, mLED, UV/VIS/NIR applications, Remote Sensing, Light Measurement, Integrating Sphere Design, Optical Sensor Calibrations, Optical Systems Design, Optical Laboratory methods, and Laser Power Measurements
- Must be self-motivated, be able to learn quickly, and be able to meet project cost and schedule constraints
- The candidate may also be asked to attend trade shows, conferences, and customer visits, and be able to join/contribute to domestic and international standards committees.
- The candidate will need to work within a cross-functional team environment to provide creative and innovative solutions to solve challenging optical problems. Experience with Zemax, TracePro, MATLAB, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation a plus.
- The candidate will be a team player willing to impart knowledge to other team members across the organization and promote the work of the Engineering group both internally and externally at conferences and trade shows.
